The FLOP Museum showcases “around 100 flops with short, funny stories about what went wrong. From familiar brands to inventions you have to see to believe.” Its founder wants visitors to leave with one idea: success starts with the courage to fail.

Success starts with the courage to fail: Steffen Kalve on the FLOP Museum.
Most museums celebrate what worked. The FLOP Museum does the opposite. Around a hundred products are on display at a time, drawn from a collection of more than 270: Google Glass, Crystal Pepsi, the talking doll My Friend Cayla, and McDonald's McAfrika among them. Every object was once a real idea that someone was brave enough to launch and a story to tell; innovation takes incredible bravery to undertake and while all ventures face challenges, not all of them survive them.
«What I like about Taki is that you interact with the accounting system in an intelligent way. And when a need goes beyond what the system can do, you also have a human in the loop.»
Steffen worked for Google in Dublin, where trying boldly and missing was simply part of the job. He knows the feeling from the inside too: one of his own early ventures, an online clock shop, was a flop.
The museum opened as a pop up in Tønsberg in the summer of 2025 and moved on to Oslo's Barcode district in 2026. Families, school classes and company groups now come to see that the distance between a flop and a breakthrough is often just one more attempt.
Running a museum requires tickets, merchandise, and suppliers, and every one of them leaves a trail of invoices and receipts. Steffen's frustration was that an accountant working the old way, never actually made any of it simpler for him so he could focus more on FLOP Museum’s success.
With Taki and his accountant, he creates invoices by asking for them in the chat, manages receipts with ease, and helps ease his accountant’s workload via Taki’s partner portal. In his words, using Taki is as easy as having a conversation. When something needs more than the system can do, his authorised accountant takes it from there.
